Professional Career: D. Loverdos served as a judge for 41 years, retiring in 2008 as a Vice-President of the Supreme Court. During 1996-1997 he served as an alternate member of the Special Highest Court of article 100 of the Greek Constitution. He was Chairman of the Special law drafting Committee for the revision of provisions on the settlement of disputes in civil and commercial cases which led to the adoption of Law No. 3898/2010 on “Mediation in civil and commercial cases”. He is a member of the Society of Judicial Studies and member of the scientific advisory board the magazine “Theory and Practice of Civil Law and Civil Procedure Law”. From 2004 to 2010 he taught civil procedure, civil law and criminal law at the National School of Judges and he served as chairman in educational seminars for Judges and Attorney Generals under the auspices of the National School of Judges. He is a certified mediator by the Ministry of Justice.
